NCT is back in the United States with their subunit, NCT Dream, and I am extremely excited for their world tour that has already started!
NCT Dream is a subunit of NCT, which stands for Neo Culture Technology. NCT was formed in 2016. NCT Dream was formed with the purpose in mind of becoming the teenage subunit to NCT, allowing the members to explore their youth at that age. Members would go through an “admission” to join the group, and then “graduation” after leaving the group. Their debut was August 25, 2016 with the song “Chewing Gum.” The lineup of NCT Dream consists of seven members: Mark, Renjun, Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin, Chenle, and Jisung. Their ages ranged from 15 to 17. Mark actually had his graduation from NCT Dream, but was later promoted into NCT Dream as a 7 member group again! This meant the end of the “graduation” age-based system for NCT Dream.
Before their debut, Mark, Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin, and Jisung were previously part of SM Rookies, which was a pre-debut team that was under SM Entertainment. Many past SM Rookies are in groups now. NCT was announced with the outlining idea to have different subunits debut all around the world.
Their recent comeback, “Candy,” was a winter special. This EP had six Christmas style tracks and the title single was actually a rerecording of the 90’s group, H.O.T.’s, track. This track gave such a preppy new energy to the song. In my opinion, NCT Dream had to be the best subunit to not only pull off the outfits, but all of the vocals and rap lines that H.O.T. represented.
Now the best part— NCT Dream is returning to the United States for their second world tour! The concert title is “The Dream Show: 2 In a Dream World Tour,” and if you don’t know the dates, they will be in North America April 5 through April 21. They are going to New Jersey, Illinois, Georgia, Texas, California, and Washington. I don’t know about you, but I am very excited for these concerts and what NCT Dream has to offer!
