This week's arrival at Kawaii Gifts is a throwback to the late 80’s with a “My Little Pony” Loungefly mini backpack! 

Loungefly is a huge collectable pop brand that specializes in mini backpacks, wallets, pins and more. We are thrilled to carry new releases of these products in our shop, especially The “My Little Pony” backpack. The backpack we are selling features a design from the original show that started airing decades ago and will be a surprise for many fans that have come to love “My Little Pony” through the years!

This Loungefly bag is a mini backpack with a Dream Castle on the bag, which also has a functioning drawbridge. This bag also has 3D flags that sit at the top of the castle, with of course all the original ponies from the show! 

The “My Little Pony” franchise started in the toy industry, then expanded to release their first show that aired on September 15, 1986. The show has been popularized over generations until today. Ponyland is magical, but not all creatures in Ponyland are friendly. Throughout the series, Snuzzle, Butterscotch, Blue Belle, Minty and Blossom will fight to save Ponyland.

The toy started off with just a single pony, which became popular instantly with their beautiful colorful bodies, manes, and the symbols each pony had that were called “cutie marks.” “My Little Pony” was one of the first TV series that was adapted into a show after the toys were popularized by many children. Up until this day, “My Little Pony” not only captured the hearts of children but also the interest of many adults, with their collectible items that many grew up enjoying. 

More people may be familiar with “My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” today, myself included, since it is more of a recent show. This is a revamped version of the original. This plotline is set in the kingdom of Equestria, and centers on the three species of ponies: earth ponies, pegasi and unicorns. They live peacefully amongst each of their differences. There are also the five main ponies in the show, Applejack, Rarity, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, and Pinkie Pie. These ponies are close friends with Princess Celestia. These ponies help keep Ponyland at peace with the help of friendship and, of course, magic!

Kawaii Gifts is located in Pittsburgh in the lovely community of Shadyside. We have expanded the store, moving upstairs about five years ago, and continue to sell a variety of kawaii merchandise for everyone.
